Refund Policy:

It should be noted that upon accepting a student, an Ontario School Record (OSR) is initiated, other pertinent school files are completed and teachers are hired. A great deal of time, effort, and expense go into properly preparing to accept a student upon arrival.
The following refund policy is in place for local students:

  • Prior to school commencing: All refund requests must be in writing.

  • Registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

  • The students may withdraw up to six weeks before the start of their first semester and receive a full refund, less the application fee, and money spent on uniforms and textbooks. Students withdrawing within six weeks of the start of the semester but before the start of school, may receive a 75% refund. Students will not be eligible for a refund after starting school. Students applying for accommodation will receive a refund minus the two monthly accommodation fees given to the homestay family and the accommodation placement fee.

  • After school begins: Once classes begin, there is no refund.

  • There will also be no refund of the tuition fee in the following circumstances:

– If the student is found in violation of school regulations and asked to withdraw from the school
– If the student has been misrepresented on the application form, persistent absence without cause

Special Circumstances

There are unusual circumstances that may from time to time cause a student to be absent. The most common one relates to a student’s health. Should that be the case, a written request from the parent may be considered. In such cases, a refund may not be offered but rather a credit for future study when the student returns.

International Students

Guidelines Academy welcomes applications from students whose parents wish them to have a Canadian secondary school education in preparation for entering a Canadian postsecondary institution. An international student is any student holding a foreign passport and in need of permission to study in Canada (Study Permit). Students from most countries will also need a visa to enter Canada. Please consult with the nearest Canadian Embassy, Consulate, or High Commission for information on whether you also need a visa for entering Canada.

Admission Criteria

The On-site Program accepts international students wishing to come to Canada to study at Guidelines Academy for Grades 9-12. These students will require a Visa. The Online Program accepts international students. These students will not require a Visa as they will be studying in their home country.

Students applying for the On-site and On-line Programs must have:

  • A standardized test (IELTS or TOEFL) is not a requirement, however, students must be able to
communicate effectively in English. While IELTS or TOEFL is not mandatory, English
proficiency tests can strengthen the student’s application.

  • Guidelines Academy also accepts the CAEL and PEARSON tests.

Please note: Students shall make course selections with a guidance counselor after receiving an acceptance letter confirming enrolment.
